Roland Suddaby (1912-1972)
Roland Suddaby was born in Yorkshire. He was a painter mainly of landscapes.
His first solo show was at the Wertheim Gallery in 1925, the next year he exhibited with the Redfern Gallery, where he had a series of solo exhibitions.
After World War II he exhibited with the Leger Galleries.
His work is in many public collections in Britain and abroad, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Arts Council.
His pictures have a spontaneous vitality, an immediacy which is unmistakeable.
